Ares appoints new global DE&I officer

Indhira Arrington joins from Wells Fargo and will be responsible for 'enhancing the recruitment, development, retention and advancement of professionals from diverse backgrounds.'

Ares Management announced Wednesday the appointment of Indhira Arrington as managing director and global chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, where she’ll lead the firm’s DE&I efforts internally and serve as advisor to continue such initiatives at the portfolio company level.

Arrington will be responsible for “enhancing the recruitment, development, retention and advancement of professionals from diverse backgrounds,” the firm said. She will also partner with the firm’s inclusion and diversity council, as well as other key stakeholders to develop actionable and sustainable programs to further embed DE&I initiatives into the firm’s business model.

“As a firm, we are deeply proud of what we have achieved so far with our DE&I activities, yet we recognize that there is a significant opportunity to drive further progress,” said Jessica Dosen, partner and global head of human resources. “I am confident that Indhira’s insights and leadership will accelerate our continuing evolution in this critical area.”

Arrington joins from Wells Fargo, where she was senior vice-president head of targeted sourcing, tasked with providing leadership in the strategic planning and execution of diversity sourcing initiatives. Before that, she held several senior titles at Bank of America’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Organization.

Arrington will report to Dosen, as well as Ares chief executive and president Michael Arougheti.

Private Funds CFO recently caught up with key diversity, equity and inclusion leaders from Blackstone, KKR and Carlyle to discuss their programs for driving DE&I change both within their firms and at their portfolio companies.
