A recent survey conducted by PEI Manager reveals a wide range of compensation levels among the finance and operations professionals in the private equity industry.

According to PEI Manager's 2008 Private Equity Finance & Operations Compensation Survey, which polled more than 130 chief financial officers, chief operating officers and operations executives at private equity firms, the dimensions of compensation among this burgeoning class of professionals seems to be determined by three things ? the firm's assets under management, the professional's access to carried interest, and how the firm performed in a given year.

In January, preliminary results of this survey were presented at the 5th Annual Private Equity COOs and CFOs Forum in New York. A detailed version of the results of the survey will soon be released by PEI Research. It is the most complete survey yet of non-deal professionals in private equity
