Baird creates human capital role

Baird Capital hired Melissa Mounce to lead recruitment for the firm and its portfolio companies.

Baird Capital, the private equity arm of Robert W. Baird & Co, named Melissa Mounce vice president of human capital.

In the newly created role, Mounce will work with the firm and its portfolio companies in building recruitment strategies, recruiting management teams and enhancing executives’ networks.

Over recent years more GPs have added a “chief human resources officer” to their executive boardrooms.

“The human resources function is increasingly evolving into a less process-focused but more strategic role for attracting, retaining, motivating and developing the very best talent available,” wrote in a recent pfm comment letter Pat Hedley, who leads General Atlantic’s human resources function.

Baird Capital managing partner Gordon Pan echoed the sentiment, saying in a statement that Mounce’s “global expertise in identifying exceptional talent and building great teams will greatly enhance our efforts to meet our investment goals.”

Prior to joining Baird, Mounce was in charge of recruitment for healthcare company Abbott.
