BDO Consulting hires Gary Swiman of EisnerAmper

BDO USA’s consulting arm has named Gary Swiman as the head of regulatory and compliance consulting.

BDO USA unit BDO Consulting has appointed Gary Swiman as head of regulatory and compliance consulting for its financial services advisory practice, it said.

Swiman will help BDO’s clients deal with the changing regulatory requirements and build compliance strategies for them.

“Regulatory compliance on a global scale is in a state of flux as regulators around the world step up individual enforcement and share information across borders,” Swiman said in a statement.

Prior to joining BDO last month, Swiman was partner and head of compliance and regulatory services (CARS) at EisnerAmper, where he launched the CARS programme. Within the consulting space, he had also been principal and head of compliance and regulatory practice at C&A Consulting, president and partner leading the asset management and broker dealer practice at ICS Risk Advisors and associate director of regulatory advisory services practice at Navigant Consulting, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Earlier in his career, he had been chief compliance officer at Aberdeen Asset Management , chief compliance officer at Evercore Partners, director in the office of general counsel at Merrill Lynch, director of internal audit at Nomura and senior accountant at Deloitte Haskins and Sells, according to LinkedIn.

His certifications include Cerfieid Fruad Examiner, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, Certified in Financial Forensics, Certified Financial Crime Specialist and Certified Public Accountant, according to BDO.

BDO USA is part of BDO International, which has 1,408 offices in 154 countries. It provides its clients with assurance, tax, financial advisory and consulting services.
