Blackstone’s Ford joins Walek & Associates

John Ford will be assisting the public relations firm on an as-needed basis to support its international expansion.

The Blackstone Group’s former global head of communications, John Ford, has joined public relations firm Walek & Associates as Counsel. Ford will assist Walek’s clients as needed, and help Walek to expand its business internationally.

Ford was at Blackstone for nearly ten years before retiring at the end of 2008. He still works for the firm as a consultant on a few projects. Before, he spent six years at JP Morgan as vice president and head of corporate communications for JP Morgan’s European operations. He also spent two years as head of global media relations with an international rating agency in New York, and ten years running an international investor relations consultancy in Europe.

“Walek is a relatively small firm, has a terrific amount of expertise,” Ford said. “Given the environment we’re in at the moment, where so many domestic markets have been saturated or are diminishing in terms of local firms, people are having to look further afield, they’re having to go abroad to keep their market share up. There are huge opportunities overseas for a firm like Walek.”

Walek represents private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, as well as placement agent CP Eaton.
