Blackstone’s Q2 earnings, thoughts on DC investment

Blackstone: The private equity giant recorded a rebound in second quarter profits. Its corporate private equity portfolio took back some ground after the steep depreciation in Q1.

Connor Hussey reports that, on the call, president and chief operating officer Jonathan Gray pointed out which private markets sectors he thinks investment capital from defined contribution plans will go to first – when it starts flowing. But, like executives at Partners Group and Pantheon, Gray thinks there is a long road ahead before 401(k)s begin investing in traditional private equity en masse.
