Fund admins continue expansion with new hires

Zedra and Sanne build on growth with appointments in their regional offices.

Zedra, an international fund, trust and corporate services firm, has appointed Robert Lucas as funds director in its Jersey office.

He joins the firm from Vistra Fund Services where he was head of fund and corporate services. He was previously director and head of real estate and infrastructure funds at Northern Trust, an international fund services firm.

Zedra has opened a string of new offices this year, after making a number of acquisitions in 2016. In April it set up in Miami, with Tomas Alonso as managing director. A month earlier it opened its Sydney office, led by Jim Fulton.

Elsewhere in the fund services market, Sanne has appointed Fred Steinberg as managing director in its New York office.

Steinberg will oversee the day-to-day operations of that office and will be responsible for the firm’s technology support office in Belgrade, Serbia.

He joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was a director, responsible for closed ended alternatives funds, and worked for nine years.

Sanne has also been expanding its global coverage, acquiring a number of rival fund administrators over the past 12 months. The most recent of these was Mauritius-based IFS Group, which it acquired in November.

In March, Sanne acquired its depositary license in Luxembourg, enabling it to offer the service to alternative investment funds in the country.
