Highland appoints head of IR

The Dallas-based investment management firm has named Steven Delarosa managing director of investor relations, a newly created position.

Highland Capital Management has appointed Steven Delarosa as managing director of investor relations. In the newly created position, Delarosa will report to head of business development Kevin Latimer, and will be based in Dallas.

“Bringing on someone of Steve’s caliber and experience to be dedicated to this role is important in supporting and expanding our client base,” Latimer told PEI.  “We believe the consultant community is increasingly interested in alternative asset classes and in private equity structures.”

Latimer added that Delarosa will play a “critical role will in furthering relationships with private equity consultants.”

Delarosa has more than 20 years of client service and marketing experience working with investments. For the past 11 years, he held three executive level positions in client services and marketing at Western Asset Management Company, where he helped expand the firm’s assets under management from $24.7 billion to a peak of $628 billion.

Prior to his time at WAMCO, Delarosa served as director of investments at MFR Financial Resources, a $500 million private equity firm focused on Latin America.

Highland Capital Management is a SEC-registered investment adviser with roughly $24 billion AUM, specialising in bank loans, high yield credit, distressed debt, structured products, real assets and long-short equities.
