Investec boosts fund finance team

The specialist bank appointed Stefan Szczurowski to support deal origination.

London-based Investec Specialist Bank appointed Stefan Szczurowski to its fund finance team to support deal origination.

He will focus on developing lending solutions for the private equity market and will report to Simon Hamilton, global head of Investec fund finance, according to a statement.

Szczurowski, a former Olympian who won a rowing bronze in the Men’s Coxed 8 at Athens in 2004, has worked at Investec in Australia since November 2009. In his role in the corporate and acquisition team, he was responsible for supporting the execution of leveraged finance transactions for financial sponsors and corporate clients.

Hamilton said Szczurowski’s appointment, “demonstrates the increased momentum that we are building in the fund finance division at Investec, and reflects the strong pipeline of new business opportunities that we are currently seeing. His wealth of experience and knowledge will prove invaluable as we continue to enhance our service and product offering.”

Investec’s fund finance team is focused on lending to leading funds and fund management teams to facilitate “value creation opportunities” via lending facilities secured against the value of the assets in the fund or using leverage to enhance the returns and maximize the use of a fund’s available equity. It also provides capital call facilities to bridge investor call-downs, GP financing and secondary leverage.
