Kirkland & Ellis hires two from Weil

The law firm Kirkland & Ellis has recruited two new partners to join the firm’s corporate practice group.

Michael Weisser and Sarah Stasny have joined Kirkland & Ellis's New York office as partners in the corporate practice group with a focus on private equity, according to a statement from the firm. 

Weisser and Stasny come from the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where they were also partners. The two represent many leading private equity funds and their portfolio companies in connection with investments, acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate matters. They also represent pension plans and hedge funds in connection with their private equity investments, according to the statement. 

“Michael and Sarah are both talented lawyers with an impressive roster of clients, a successful track record and a great reputation in the private equity industry,” said Jeffrey Hammes, chairman of Kirkland's global management executive committee. 

“They have significant experience representing clients on the complex transactions that are the backbone of Kirkland's private equity practice. Many of our lawyers have worked across the table from Michael and Sarah for years, and now we are delighted to welcome them to Kirkland to bolster our strong transactional team in New York.
