Kirkland to open Boston office

Three of the law firm’s existing partners are joining the new office, which will have a focus on private equity.

Kirkland & Ellis is opening a private equity-focused office in Boston this June, the law firm said on Monday.

Armand Della Monica, a New York-based partner in the M&A and private equity practice group; Neal Reenan, a Chicago-based partner specializing in transactions including M&A; and Ian Bushner, a Chicago-based partner focused on private equity firms and public and private companies, will move to Boston to join the new office.

Kirkland has already represented clients based in Boston, including Bain Capital, Thomas H Lee Partners and Great Hill Partners, according to partner profiles on Kirkland’s website.

The new office will be the firm’s eighth in the US and 13th worldwide. In 2016, the law firm advised on 128 leveraged buyouts worth $35 billion.Â
