King & Wood Mallesons has elected London partner Tim Bednall as managing partner for Europe and Middle East.
Bednall takes up the position with immediate effect and for a term of three years, according to a statement from the firm.
Bednall, who serves as head of the firm’s London corporate finance and funds division and joint global co-ordinator of its corporate, M&A and securities practice, takes over from William Boss.
Boss resigned in January, after less than a year, to concentrate on his real estate practice.
KWM delayed elections for the position until September following major business restructuring, which saw the firm cut 15 percent of its personnel in its Europe and Middle East practices.
Bednall joined KWM in 2004. He relocated from the firm’s Sydney office to London in February 2015, according the statement. He has experience advising on corporate, private equity, M&A and commercial transactions.
In his new role, Bednall will focus on the firm’s strategic operations in the EUME region.
“My immediate priority is to work with my partners across Europe and the Middle East to drive positive change and growth in the business, to deliver an outstanding client experience and to create sustainable success built on our strong European foundations,” Bednall said in the statement.
