Alternative assets-focused law firm MJ Hudson has opened an office in Guernsey, the firm said in a statement.
The Guernsey office will focus on fund, investment, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions work both onshore and offshore.
“The importance of Guernsey as a domicile for private equity and other alternative assets funds and structures is well-established,” said MJ Hudson managing partner Eamon Devlin.
The office will be managed by Stefan Gomoll, who previously worked at Clifford Chance and Carey Olsen. MJ Hudson has also hired Matt Wrigley as a senior investment funds lawyer. Wrigley previously worked for an offshore law firm in Guernsey.
“The opening of an office for a major international law firm like MJ Hudson is great news for Guernsey, and will create opportunities for new funds and managers to work on the island,” Gomoll said.
The Guernsey office is MJ Hudson’s fourth office, following the Hong Kong office which opened in August 2014. MJ Hudson was founded in London in 2010. It has 14 partners and 35 lawyers across the three offices and in its Jersey office.
