Norwest hires general counsel

Charles Moorse has joined the Minnesota-based private equity arm of Wells Fargo from law firm Lindquist & Vennum.

Minnesota-based middle market firm Norwest Equity Partners and debt-focused Norwest Mezzanine Partners have hired Charles Moorse as in-house general counsel. Based in Minnesota, Moorse will lead, support and provide expertise to the firms on all legal matters.

“Our firm has worked closely with Chuck over the years as one of our trusted outside legal counsel partners, and we know that he will be a great addition to our firm,” said Tim DeVries, managing general partner of Norwest Mezzanine Partners.

Moorse has worked at law firm Lindquist & Vennum for the last 30 years, most recently as partner in the firm’s corporate and M&A practice. During his tenure he has advised hundreds of public and private company clients across various industries, including private equity and corporate governance, according to a statement from Norwest Equity Partners.

He also served as outside general counsel to mid-cap privately held companies and their portfolio companies. In this role he advised private equity portfolio companies on corporate governance issues, public offerings and risk management.

Norwest Equity Partners and Norwest Mezzanine Partners collectively raised $2.4 billion in capital last year. Norwest Equity Partners X is a $1.6 billion limited partnership fund that closed last year. It focuses on partnering with business owners and their management teams to build companies into industry leaders. Norwest Mezzanine Partners IV, is an $800 million limited partnership formed to invest flexible junior capital in support of private equity-sponsored transactions.
