Proskauer beefs up reg practice in New York

The firm has taken on a partner from Kirkland & Ellis to expand its regulatory capabilities.

Proskauer has hired Robort Sutton, formerly a partner at Kirkland & Ellis’ Investment Funds Group, to expand its regulatory practice in New York.

Sutton joins the Private Funds Group’s New York office, where he’ll focus on the regulation of managers and advisers of private funds across private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds and more.

He has experience counseling a range of clients, from some of the largest and most sophisticated asset managers through the mid-market and startups, the firm said in a statement.

The move comes a little more than a week after the Securities and Exchange Commission proposed a host of potentially game-changing reporting and disclosure rules for the private funds industry.
