Proskauer hires PE partner in New York – Exclusive

The law firm continues its hiring spree, after appointing two new partners in its London office last month.

New York-based Law firm Proskauer Rose has hired Monica Arora as partner in its private investment funds group at its headquarters, pfm has learned.

Arora officially starts on 29 September, a Proskauer spokesman told pfm.

In her new role, Arora will advise her GP clients on fund structuring and management company arrangements across private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and debt, as well as primary and secondary portfolio transactions, according to Proskauer.

Arora joins Proskauer from another New York-based firm, White & Case, where she served as the global head of the firm’s investment funds group, according to the White & Case website. Members of that group focus on fund formation, deals, distressed equity, and debt investments. The group also advises clients, which includes fund managers, sovereign wealth funds, foundations, pension funds, and other institutional investors, on alternative asset investments, the website said.

She joined White & Case in 2009, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, she was a senior associate at Debevoise & Plimpton for about seven years, and an associate at Altheimer & Gray for a year, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Her appointment follows a slew of hires at Proskauer. Last month, the law firm hired Vikki McKay as a private real estate partner and Eleanor Shanks as a private equity partner, both in its London office.

The law firm is currently growing its London office, having hired not only McKay and Shanks in recent months but also special real estate counsel Ben Taylor, mergers and acquisitions partners Steven Davis, Matt Rees and James Howe, secondaries specialist Bruno Bertrand-Delfau, finance partner Alex Griffith, and tax partner Robert Gaut.
