Proskauer’s record promotion class includes private funds group

Law firm elevates 33 attorneys to partners and senior counsels.

Proskauer said that it had a record promotion class of 33 lawyers this year, including four in its Private Funds Group who were named as partners.

The white-shoe law firm said that it elevated Ryan Carpenter, Christopher Elson, Sean Spence and Bradley Schecter to their new partnership roles. Carpenter and Schecter are based in Boston, while Spence and Elson are based in London.

In total, Proskauer said it made 25 promotions to partner and eight promotions to senior counsel. The elevations span a series of specialties.

Carpenter works with GPs in asset classes such as buyouts, venture capital, growth equity, fund-of-funds and private credit. His background includes work in setting up and maintaining management companies and general partners. He also advises LPs on acquiring and divesting their private-fund holdings, Proskauer added.

Elson advises GPs on structuring funds and on fundraising. Proskauer said that his clients are in asset classes such as growth equity, buyouts, venture capital and credit.

Spence works with LPs, including sovereign wealth funds, on transaction negotiations. The law firm also noted that he advises GPs on fund establishment and ongoing operations.

Schecter advises GPs on their fundraising processes, including in tasks such as marketing and fund structuring. Proskauer notes that he works with clients in asset classes such as venture capital, buyouts, fund-of-funds, growth equity and private credit.
