Recruiting a diverse investment team seems easier said than done, if private equity industry statistics are anything to go by. Elsewhere, further evidence that LPs are paying less attention to IRRs and more to public market equivalents comes from a panel run by private equity data platform Burgiss, reports sister publication Private Equity International. Landmark Partners, for example, uses a “direct alpha” algorithm, which is calculated based on the series of private equity cashflows that are capitalised by single public market benchmark returns, such as the MSCI World or S&P 500, to the same single point in time.
