StepStone announces spate of promotions

The private markets investment firm announced some 20 new managing directors and partners.

Global private markets investment firm StepStone Group announced a host of promotions within its ranks Tuesday, including 10 new partners and 10 new managing directors.

The promotions spanned across firm roles, and included a number of legal, operational, finance and accounting roles.

Jeremy Matz, based in New York, was made partner and head of tax at the firm. He joined in 2018 and had previously been an executive director at JPMorgan Chase & Co providing tax support to the JPM Private Bank.

David Park, also based in La Jolla, California, was made partner and chief accounting officer. He joined StepStone in 2019. Before that, he was head of corporate accounting, policy and reporting at Oaktree Capital Management.

Jennifer Ishiguro was made partner and chief legal officer and secretary. She is a member of the firm’s legal and compliance team and joined StepStone in 2019. She is based in La Jolla, California.

Varun Kapoo, who joined in 2016 and is based in Sydney, was made partner and head of investment operations for the infrastructure and real estate assets team. Prior to StepStone, he was head of finance with Hastings Fund Management.

Managing director promotions included Kimberly Zeitvogel in the finance and accounting team, based in Charlotte, North Carolina; Sangeeta Kulkarni, finance and accounting in La Jolla; and Jennifer Dazzo, investor relations in La Jolla.
