The long, long-hold

A new philosophy of PE investing emerges.

Silver Lake’s new long-hold strategy is a fundamental redefining of the private equity model, writes Chris Witkowsky. The firm received an investment commitment of $2 billion from Mubdala in October to invest over a 25-year “deployment life-cycle.”

At a time when the industry is perhaps under more public scrutiny than ever, long-hold strategies, like the perpetual capital structures employed by the likes of Blackstone, may help to flip the perception of PE firms and strip-and-flip investors.

Thinking about pursuing a long-hold strategy? I’d love to hear from you.
