Views from the 2019 Private Fund Compliance Forum

What's on CFOs' and CCOs' minds? Valuations guidelines, patch cyber insurance coverage and SEC exam patterns.

I joined around 100 attendees at PEI’s 2019 Private Fund Compliance Forum in San Francisco last week. Warm weather, clear skies: the perfect setting to discuss compliance in the private equity industry.

Valuations, specifically AICPA’s recent fair value guide, was a major topic of conversation. The SEC won’t be using the 600-page guide as “the Bible,” one panelist said, but the abundance of case studies in the guide is extremely valuable to the industry. Other topics discussed at the conference were cybersecurity insurance, SEC trends, and ESG policies.
