Mark Harris will join the specialty finance company on 1 August. He is currently the chief financial officer for Avenue Capital’s Asia strategy.

The new bill, which was introduced by US Congressman Erik Paulsen, is meant to amend a tax provision that would allow for more foreign investment in BDCs.

Michael McFerran, previously chief financial officer for KKR’s credit group, has been appointed CFO and treasurer at Ares Management.  

Regulators are plotting more restrictions on bank lending and while private debt funds can pick up on some of that slack such a move would create, it could also spark a number of problems including a deterioration in underwriting standards.
