Bay City Capital COO to step down

The venture capital firm’s chief compliance officer, a past speaker at PEI’s PE/VC Forum in San Francisco, is leaving to take on a similar role at Sherpa Capital, pfm has confirmed.

Kirby Barlett is leaving Bay City Capital to join San Francisco-based venture capital firm Sherpa Capital as managing director, chief operating officer and chief compliance officer, pfm has confirmed.

The news was first reported on by Fortune, but a source with knowledge of the matter verified the report. It is not clear when Bartlett, who spent 18 years with Bay City and is still currently listed on the firm’s website as chief administrative officer and chief compliance officer, will complete the transition.

Since 2003, Bartlett has managed the administrative/back-office functions at Bay City Capital. Over his tenure, he has led efforts in fundraising, marketing, investor relations, recruiting, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, and investing.

He is also a past speaker at PEI’s PE/VC Finance & Compliance Forum 2015. Earlier this year, Barlett sat on a panel discussing investor reporting, an area undergoing significant transformation as LPs request more granular information on portfolio company and fees and expenses.
