Blue Wolf names CCO ahead of SEC rules

Blue Wolf Capital Partners has hired Charles Miller as a partner and chief compliance officer. 

The position is new and was created to comply with recent legislation, according to a Blue Wolf spokesperson.

Indeed, the Dodd-Frank Act requires private equity firms to appoint a chief compliance officer by 21 July.

Miller, who was a partner at Patton Boggs, a Washington, DC-based law firm, has acted as counsel to Blue Wolf on many of its investments since 2005, according to the spokesperson. Miller had advised on mergers and acquisitions and financings, recapitalisations, restructurings and reorganisations.

Miller worked as the deputy managing partner of Patton Boggs and as an ex-officio member of the firm’s executive committee since 2007. From 2004, he was chairman of the firm's business department and from 2001-2004, he was the managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office.

Founded in 2005, Blue Wolf targets “unconventional” deal flow not touched by mainstream private equity firms, specialising in companies whose values are “obscured by complexity” in the form of labour union relations, government contracts and financial underperformance.
