CVC and Lee to consult on gender diversity

Following private mediation, Lee and CVC agreed to discuss inclusion and improving opportunities for women.

CVC Capital Partners and its ex-managing director Lisa Lee have reached a confidential agreement to resolve Lee’s sexual discrimination claims, they said in a joint statement Thursday.

After private mediation, CVC said it will consult with Lee over the coming months regarding matters of diversity and inclusion, including improving opportunities for women.

“Both parties believe the private equity industry benefits from the diversity of its talent and that continuing to recruit and develop a diverse pool is an important goal,” the statement said.

Lee sued CVC in January, accusing the firm of firing her after she complained about gender problems. She claimed male supervisors were not punished for inappropriate behavior, and she accused the firm of trying to give her accounts to male co-workers after she went on maternity leave.

CVC denied the claims and said Lee’s job was terminated because she did not get along with her co-workers, and as part of a wider restructuring of the investor relations group.

In May, the two parties said they intended to enter into private mediation to resolve the matter. They imposed a deadline of October 31 for the fact-finding mission and January 15 to decide on an outcome.

Lawyers for both parties were unable to comment in time for publication.
