CVC Credit Partners creates GC role

Richard Perris, managing director of legal at private equity house CVC, will take up the position at the firm’s private debt arm.

CVC Credit Partners, the private debt arm of private equity powerhouse CVC Capital Partners, has hired Richard Perris to a newly created general counsel role, according to a firm spokesperson.

Perris, who is currently managing director of legal at CVC, will begin his new role on January 1, 2015. He will be replaced by Lauren Livingston, who is director of legal at CVC on the same date.

Perris joined the private equity firm in October 2005 from ‘Magic Circle’ law firm Clifford Chance’s corporate department, where he specialized in private equity. Livingston joined CVC in 2007, having previously worked at law firm Herbert Smith where she was an associate in the corporate department.

CVC bolstered its legal bench earlier this year when the head of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s private equity practice, Christopher Bown, joined the firm as a senior advisor.

Bown will work with CVC’s deal teams and its existing in-house legal function, as well as providing advice and assistance to CVC portfolio companies.
