Dorsey hires Orrick private equity partner

As a part of its effort to build its London team, the US firm will add two more partners this year.

US law firm Dorsey and Whitney has hired Paul Denham as a partner in its London office, as it continues to build out its European private equity group.

He will be working closely with the firm's corporate and finance groups, focusing on leveraged finance and general banking matters, according to a statement.

Denham joined the firm this month, from the banking and financing group of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, where he was part of the legal business finance team.

Denhem's hire follows that of Fabrizio Carpanini and Carsten Greve, both from law firm Olswang, in November.

Carpanini heads the firm's London and European private equity group and represented the founders of UK based skincare specialist, Dr Organic in the sale of the company to The Carlyle Group last year.

Greve, also based in the firm's London office, has been hired as special counsel and has a strong focus on investments in the Nordics.

The hires are part of the firm's plans to expand its private equity capabilities, with “London acting as a stepping stone into continental Europe,” Carpanini told pfm.

Carpanini also said that the firm has future plans to appoint two more private equity partners in London.

Dorsey advises clients from 19 offices across the US, Canada, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
