GSSG Solar names COO

The solar energy-focused private equity firm hired Bailey McCallum as chief operating officer.

GSSG Solar, an investment firm for the solar energy sector, hired the chief financial officer of energy firm Element Power Solar, Bailey McCallum, as chief operating officer.

McCallum joins GSSG, which manages the solar-only private equity fund GSSG Solar Partners, to focus on the optimization of the firm’s operating and administrative systems and to help with human resources.

While at Element Power Solar, McCallum led the finance, tax and due diligence efforts at the firm. Before serving as CFO, he worked as a member of the power and renewables team at GE Energy Financial Services where he participated in closing more than $2 billion of tax equity financing for renewable energy projects in the US, according to a statement.

“Bailey’s extensive experience in solar finance and operations is an ideal complement to our team,” said Tomakin Archambault, chief executive and managing director at GSSG Solar.

McCallum will be based in GSSG’s Denver office, although the firm also has operations in San Francisco, and Tokyo. Aside from running a private equity fund, GSSG also has capital formation, financial structuring and M&A practices.
