HarbourVest appoints Randy Parker to RE post

The global fund of funds manager has hired former Netherlands-based Composition Capital’s managing director to oversee its private equity real estate investments.

HarbourVest Partners has hired Randy Parker to join the firm as a principal where he will focus on investments in private equity real estate funds and related opportunities.

The Boston-based fund of funds manager is broadening its global alternatives investments—which include venture, buyout, mezzanine debt, and distressed debt—to include real estate fund investments.

“Real estate investing is a continuation of HarbourVest’s development and reinforces our role as a leader in the industry,” Kevin Delbridge, a senior managing director at HarbourVest said in a statement, adding that real estate represents “an opportunity to apply our team’s skills and expertise to a growing asset class.”

Prior to joining HarbourVest, Parker was managing director of Netherlands-based global real estate fund of funds Composition Capital Partners. He was also senior managing director at Boston-based Beacon Capital Partners, responsible for capital formation, investor relations, investment strategy, and also served as chairman of the investment committee. Prior to Beacon, he spent eight years at AEW Capital Management.

Parker has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky and an MBA in finance with a real estate concentration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the Association of Foreign Investment in Real Estate.
