Maples Fiduciary opens in London

The fiduciary division of Maples FS has established a presence in London following increasing demand from private equity firms for UK assets.

Maples Fiduciary, a division of Maples FS, which provides fiduciary services to a variety of alternative asset fund structures, has opened an office in London.

The London team will focus on providing corporate and fiduciary services to UK companies, limited liability partnerships and structured finance vehicles.

The service provider works with most of the major private equity firms, as well as with a number of boutique and regional private managers, senior vice president Sam Ellis, who will be responsible for leading the London office, told pfm.

“Maples Fiduciary strives to meet the evolving multi-jurisdictional needs of its clients and we are continually assessing and reshaping our business to address the changing demands of the market. This strategy supported our decision to establish a presence in London where we have specifically found that there is ongoing demand for UK assets from private equity firms,” said Ellis.

The firm will offer entity formation, registered office, company secretarial and independent director services for UK entities within asset holding structures, something it provides in other jurisdictions in the private equity sector, along with its broader service offering to UK structured finance transactions.

Ellis will be joined in the London office by a number of new hires, including Tina Jehan, who joined the team as vice president earlier this year; Charles Leahy, who joined as vice president from UK-based investment trust and independent fiduciary services provider Law Debenture in August; and Michael Drew, who also joined the firm as vice president from brokerage firm Structured Finance Management in September.

MaplesFS, through its divisions Maples Fiduciary, Maples Fund Services and Maples Private Client Services, offers fiduciary, fund administration, entity formation and management, insurance management and trust and private client services.

Maples Fiduciary provides members of its fiduciary services team to act as independent directors to investment funds. It also offers a range of other services to investment funds, including corporate secretarial services, trustee services, affiliated trade review and voluntary liquidation services.

The firm has offices located in the Cayman Islands, Delaware, Dubai, Hong Kong, Ireland, London, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Singapore.
