Permira appoints first ESG head

Permira has appointed Adinah Shackleton to its newly created role of head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) based in London, it is understood. A spokesperson for Permira declined to comment.

Shackleton joins from sustainability consultancy Environmental Resources Management, where she worked from 2006 to 2015. Her latest position was as principal consultant, according to her LinkedIn profile.

As the firm’s first head of ESG, she will work with its existing ESG steering group to further develop its strategy and consider what initiatives it should be undertaking, it is understood.

The steering group is headed by Jörg Rockenhäuser who is a member of the firm’s executive committee and heads its Frankfurt office. Other members include the firm’s head of investor relations Chris Davison, chief risk officer Christopher Crozier and investment professional Telmo Valido.

Shackleton's LinkedIn profile describes her as an ESG specialist who assists private equity firms develop ESG policies and frameworks to apply during the investment life cycle. She works with portfolio companies to manage ESG risk and enhance performance and value.
