Kramer Levin adds two private equity partners

James Moriarty and Russell Pinilis have joined Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel as partners in the firm’s New York alternatives practice. Prior to joining Kramer Levin, Moriarty and Pinilis were partners at O'Melveny & Myers.

Moriarty’s practice includes advising mid-market private equity firms on acquisition and sale transactions, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, recapitalizations, management equity arrangements and mezzanine and growth equity financings.

Pinilis is a fund formation and tax attorney that works with private equity funds in fund and transaction structuring of investments and portfolio company transactions.

There are 17 partners in the Private Equity/Venture Capital/Hedge Funds group, said a spokesperson.

The firm specializes in all types of private equity and venture capital transactions, including leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, recapitalizations and restructurings, convertible debt and preferred stock investments and angel rounds of financing.

Kramer Levin recently advised BlackRock in the joint venture that formed Private National Mortgage Acceptance Company. The firm has also advised Stone Point Capital in a number of equity investments including Pierpont Securities and NXT Capital.
