Citi accelerates private equity services in EMEA

Citigroup has increased its private equity and real estate service capabilities for managers based in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In expanding its Global Transaction Services unit into EMEA, Citi will offer GPs in the region greater fund administration services including financial reporting, cash management and asset safekeeping solutions.

To help lead the expansion, Citi has appointed 17-year veteran Kamran Anwar as chief of private equity for the region. Anwar has worked with Citigroup or one of its predecessors since 1993, first in the investment banking division of Salomon Brothers, which was later acquired by Citi in 1998. He later went on to act as Citi's head of Strategy & Planning in EMEA.

“Kamran's broad exposure throughout Citi and his experience with several markets, governments and client segments will be a critical factor as Citi expands private equity services in EMEA,” said Joe Patellaro, Citi's global head of private equity services, in a statement.

As part of the expansion, Citi has also established a new client service team in Dublin. The team joins existing funds businesses in Luxembourg and Jersey as part of Citi's overall private equity capabilities in the EMEA space.

Global Transaction Services, a division of Citi's Institutional Clients Group, has $12.4 trillion in assets under custody.
