Join the club

Thanks to two students at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, private equity firms looking to pluck talent from the school’s MBA program can head straight to the member roster of Michigan Ross Private Equity, a new club on campus. MBA students Greg Sanker and Ann Brophy founded the club this fall.

Just like the asset class itself, the private equity club is one of the more expensive to get into on campus: members pay approximately $100 to join. The club says the high cost goes to running events, but with all the recent hubbub over fees and expenses, one can’t help but wonder: are they really only using that money to keep the lights on?

Fortunately, like private equity, what the Michigan Ross Private Equity Club returns to its members makes the expense worthwhile.  The club will launch a “Private Equity Advisory” program for students to work directly with firms, bring on alumni members to build awareness outside the university and hopes to find work for students at firms during the school year.
