SEC’s Peirce fears folly in ESG metrics

SEC commissioner Hester Peirce took aim what she sees as the folly of securities regulators forcing ESG disclosures in a speech delivered last week at the Brookings Institute. This Republican commissioner will have an uphill battle going against the demands for ESG accounting pushed by a well-funded environmental activist movement, which draws support from heavyweights like Blackrock and T Rowe Price.
