SL Capital adds legal director

The Scotland-based fund of funds recruited Alliance Trust’s former legal counsel.

SL Capital Partners, a private equity fund of funds, secondaries and infrastructure investor, hired David Thompson as legal director.

Thompson joins the Edinburgh-based firm from Scottish investment firm Alliance Trust where he held the role of senior legal counsel. Prior to Alliance Trust Thompson worked for law firm Dickson Minto.

He will lead the firm’s legal work related to investments, fund structuring and corporate development.

SL Capital also promoted its chief operating officer Ian Harris to partner. Harris will continue to focus on the firm’s finance, operations and fund administration and the oversight of third party relationships.

He will also focus on regulatory, tax and compliance. SL Capital was one of the first private equity firms in the UK to become authorized under the new Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), set to go into effect this July.
