Apex Group expands Japan presence

The fund administrator grows its tax and accounting services with its latest acquisition in the country

Service provider Apex Group acquired Axess Accounting Office to expand its presence in Japan.

Apex CEO Peter Hughes said in a statement that because of the “continued growth of Japan’s real estate and private markets, and relatively low levels of outsourcing” the Access deal was a “compelling strategic growth opportunity.”

Axess supports more than 300 domestic and international clients with a range of corporate services, including tax compliance and tax advisory. Apex has had a longstanding partnership with Axess to service real estate and private equity clients in Japan.

Following completion of the acquisition, the Axess team of 30 local tax experts will join Apex Group, which is led in Japan by country head Mark Bennett.

Apex entered the Japanese market in 2022 with the acquisition of Sanne Group and delivers a wide range of financial and corporate services in the region to asset managers, corporations, financial institutions, private clients and family offices via a network of regional offices in China, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
