BCG makes senior appointments in PE practice

Former Houlihan Lokey managing director John Perkins and ex-CCMP Capital Advisors dealmaker Christy Carter have joined the consulting firm as partners and managing directors.

The Boston Consulting Group has added John Perkins and Christy Carter as partners and managing directors in the firm’s principal investors and private equity practice.

Perkins joins BCG’s Los Angeles office from investment bank Houlihan Lokey, where he served as managing director and head of the financial sponsors practice.

Prior to this, Perkins was a partner and director at management consulting firm Bain & Company, where he worked for 25 years. During this time, he served in a variety of roles, including as head of the firm’s North America debt practice and its Los Angeles private equity practice.

Carter joins BCG’s New York office from CCMP Capital Advisors, a $3.6 billion private equity firm, where she worked for five years as a principal in the deal team. During this time, she was responsible for evaluating and executing transactions and overseeing portfolio companies in the consumer, retail, and business service sectors.

Prior to working at CCMP Capital, Carter spent seven years at Bain & Company, where she advised private equity clients on potential investments across a wide variety of sectors as well as internal fund strategy.

“As senior members of BCG’s PIPE practice, Perkins and Carter will advise global investment firms on due diligence and post-close transformation across sectors and asset classes,” BCG said in a statement.

BCG launched its PIPE practice in September last year. The PIPE team advises global investment firms on investment diligence, transformation of portfolio companies, organization, strategy, and how to enter into new asset classes and markets, among other areas, according to a statement.

BCG has over 80 offices across North, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. The firm’s clients include equity investors, hedge funds, pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and real estate and infrastructure funds.
