“By any measure, we believe the division had a very successful year,” say the co-directors of the enforcement division.
The SEC enforcement division has set a new record in ordering of over $4.3 billion in monetary penalties and disgorgement for the 2019 fiscal year, which ended on September 30.
The division’s focus on improving the effectiveness of its distribution program has continued as well: $1.2 billion was returned to harmed investors over the last year.
In a note to clients, Cipperman Compliance Services said: “Regardless of administration, the SEC enforcement division continues to set new enforcement records. Nothing suggests any changes for the current fiscal year. If you haven’t received the memo, it’s time to get your compliance house in order.”
