Eversheds appoints PE head for north-west England

The London-headquartered law firm has poached a Pinsent Masons private equity partner, who will join the firm’s Manchester office in early 2017.

Eversheds has appointed Pinsent Masons partner Andy Phillips as partner in its Manchester corporate team and head of private equity for north-west England.

Phillips is expected to start the new role in early 2017, according to the firm.

Eversheds has been looking for the right person to lead its private equity group in the north of England for nearly two years, a spokeswoman for the firm told pfm.

Phillips has worked at Pinson Masons for nearly 10 years, and currently serves as a partner in the firm’s private equity team in Manchester. He is responsible for private equity transactions and has experience advising private equity institutions, management teams and sellers on management buy-outs, exits and private company M&A, according to the spokeswoman.

“We have taken our time and been very careful in selecting the right person to lead our private equity team in Manchester,” said Simon Masters, Eversheds corporate head for Manchester. “I believe the market will instantly recognize the strength of this appointment and will acknowledge that Andy working from the Eversheds platform will add a powerful extra dimension to private equity advice in the region.”

Eversheds has over 4,000 staff located in 50 offices across Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
