Also cybersecurity (but also AML): Venture capital-backed Enveil recently completed Series A funding and Connor Hussey spoke with the company’s CEO about the firm’s plans to expand into anti-money laundering and know-your-client technology. Less of a thing for US private funds, to be sure, but I’m interested to know how many of our European and UK readers use service providers on this front, as European (and UK) AML rules have gotten increasingly rigorous for alternative investment managers in recent years. The EU’s Fifth Money Laundering Directive went into force in January, and member states will have different requirements, but all will comply with the requirements on beneficial ownership registration, and the general direction of travel is clear — it’s likely only going to get more strict.
