Insight Venture Partners appoints COO

Ian Sandler, the former chief operating officer at Citadel and Carlyle, has joined the venture capital and private equity firm.

New York-headquartered Insight Venture Partners has appointed Ian Sandler as chief operating officer.

Sandler will be responsible for legal, finance, compliance, investor relations, IT and HR, according to the firm. He will report directly to managing director Deven Parekh.

Sandler joins from asset management firm Citadel, where was COO of global equities for just over a year. Previously, he spent almost four years as COO and chief legal officer in The Carlyle Group’s global market strategies division. Before joining Carlyle, he was COO at Morgan Stanley.

In August last year, Insight closed its Insight Venture Partners IX fund at $3.2 billion, along with its Growth-Buyout Co-investment Fund at $1.4 billion. Shortly after, the firm appointed technology industry professionals Jason Ewell, Josh Gray, Karl Karlsson, Emmet Keeffe III, and Thilo Semmelbauer as partners, as reported by sister title PEI.

Insight Venture Partners invests in high-growth technology and software companies. The firm manages $13 billion in assets and has invested in more than 250 companies worldwide since its inception in 1995.
