Service provider news round-up: Maples Fund Services opens in Boston; Moelis & Co. names former US House Majority Leader as vice chairman; more

Russell Kellner has joined the Boston office of the business consultancy BCG as a partner. He previously worked at Alvarez & Marsal where he was a managing director and led its commercial due diligence practice.

Maples Fund Services has opened an office in Boston, expanding its North American offering. Jason Brandt, regional head of fund services – North America, is leading the efforts on the ground while continuing to have management responsibility for the entire North American fund services business. Domenic Rinella, senior vice president, and Joshua Poirier, vice president, have joined the team in Boston to focus on client relationship management.

Maples Fund Services is also acquiring the Hong Kong and Singapore operations of Vistra Fund Services. Maples Fund Services will look to retain all of the Hong Kong and Singapore-based Vistra FS employees with the aim of integrating them into the existing Maples Fund Services Hong Kong and Singapore-based teams. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ian Henderson has been named the global head of EFG Fund Services. EFG provides fund administration and accounting from offices in Jersey, Luxembourg, Miami, the Cayman Islands and Singapore.

• Merchant bank Pelican Point Capital Partners has appointed Marvin Miller as general counsel and managing director. Most recently, Miller was a corporate partner in the New York office of law firm Winston & Strawn.

• Administration and corporate services firm Crestbridge has appointed Gren Carr-Jones as a director in its Luxembourg office. Carr-Jones was most recently part of the fundraising team for Invesco Real Estate and worked on real estate portfolio administration and deal sourcing for Asian real estate firm Doran Capital Partners.

Caleb Lewington has joined accountancy firm James Cowper’s corporate finance team. Lewington joined from business outsourcing company Serco's commercial finance team.

Eric Cantor has agreed to join investment bank Moelis & Co. as vice chairman and managing director. He also will serve on the investment bank’s board of directors. Cantor is the former US House Majority Leader.

Castle Hall Alternatives, an operational due diligence specialist focused on alternatives, has launched OpsDiligence platform with reporting software company ReportLab. The platform provides clients with access to a detailed due diligence database and in-depth PDF due diligence reports.

• Accountancy firm Monahans has appointed Stephanie Hurst to the position of corporate tax manager. Hurst joins Monahans from rival accountancy firm Dennis & Turnbull.

Niyamat Fazal has joined fund administration and accounting firm Langham Hall to head its private equity business. Previously Fazal was a manager at PwC and has worked with several private equity funds such as Macquarie European Infrastructure Funds, Doughty Hanson and GI Partners.
