Bridgepoint hires its new CFO from ex-portfolio company

The incoming finance chief, Ruth Prior, has held several C-suite posts over her career.

Bridgepoint has named Ruth Prior, the finance chief of a former private equity portfolio company, to serve as its own CFO beginning later this year.

Prior is presently with Element Materials Technology, which serves myriad industries with offerings for inspection, testing and certification. She has also been named as a director and will succeed current CFO Adam Jones.

The hire marks a reunion for Bridgepoint and Prior – they shared about two years of overlap, per online materials from the GP and Element.

Prior became Element’s CFO in June 2020, her company biography shows, which was during the GP’s holding period. Singapore’s Temasek acquired a minority stake in 2019, and Bridgepoint divested the rest of Element to the investor in July 2022.

Before joining Element, Prior was finance chief at William Hill, where she headed four company functions: finance, procurement, legal and assurance. And before that she was COO of Worldpay, where she helped the payments processing company get ready for its 2015 IPO.

Bridgepoint noted Prior’s varied background in the C-suite. In a statement, CEO Raoul Hughes pointed to her experience as a finance chief at both public and private companies, adding that she “brings substantial experience to the role as Bridgepoint continues to build its market presence and capabilities.”

The multi-asset GP said Jones is leaving after six years at the firm, a tenure that included its public-market debut.

Bridgepoint owns PEI Group, which publishes Private Funds CFO.
