North America PE/VC compensation survey underway

The deadline is ticking for completion of a major report looking into the compensation strategies among private equity and venture capital firms.

One of the most comprehensive compensation surveys for private equity is currently underway in North America and is due for release in October.

In its ninth year, the Holt-MM&K-Buyouts Insider PE/VC compensation survey seeks input from CFOs, directors of human resources and managing general partners at private equity and venture capital firms. Last year’s survey analyzed 30 positions from among 3,863 employees across more than 100 firms.

Among the findings: senior partners at firms with more than $1.2 billion in assets under management earned a median of $1.1 million in salary and bonuses in 2017, versus $548,000 for those at firms with under $500 million of AUM.

Compensation strategy, carry, human capital and geography are among the areas covered.

Participants, whose data will remain anonymous, can buy the full report for $2,300, which is 40 percent below the cover price.
