Adams Street CFO wins first PEM award

William Hupp, chief financial officer of Adams Street Partners, was awarded the inaugural Private Equity Manager Leadership Award Thursday for his crucial contributions to his firm and the private equity industry.

The 2011 award was presented to Hupp at the Private Equity International CFOs and COOs Forum at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Hupp, who is also a member of Adams Street Partners’ executive operating committee, said the recognition and acknowledgement is a sign of how the private equity industry has matured.

“The importance of the CFO back office roles I think has only increased over this decade and obviously will probably continue to increase,” Hupp said.

Along with his work at Adams Street, Hupp is a member of the NVCA/CFO Task Force, the International Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation Board and a founding board member of the Midwest Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association.

Private equity firms have been working hard to build up their back offices in recent years to meet the increasingly rigorous standards of the regulatory environment.

Adams Street operates fund of funds, secondaries, venture capital, growth equity and buyout co-investments. The firm manages over $20 billion of committed capital for institutional investors.
