Limited professor partnership (LPP)

We all have that one great professor who we’ve kept in contact with post-graduation. Sometimes, for finance students, these academics end up serving as consultants for a new corporate strategy or business plan. Indianapolis University alumnus Danny Chan just took this arrangement to its logical conclusion by teaming up with a former accounting professor to launch Iconic Private Equity Partners.

Chan serves as the managing director of the nascent firm, and Butler serves as a head on the advisory board. “I always looked up to Terry from the moment I stepped into his accounting class at IU, and this feeling hasn’t changed since,” Chan told IU’s student newspaper.

According to its website, Iconic targets investments in the technology, consumer retail, transportation, green energy and natural resources sectors. Not mentioned on the website is whether other IU professors working in those fields will be utilized as a way to limit due diligence costs.
