Soc Gen fund finance exec to move to Proskauer

The law firm is expanding its fund finance practice as the NAV loan market is expected to see continued growth.

Law firm Proskauer has poached a managing director from Société Générale’s credit and structured finance division.

Matthew Kerfoot will join the firm on February 27, according to two people familiar with the matter. His planned move was previously reported in the Wall Street Journal’s Private Equity Pro channel.

As partner at the firm, Kerfoot will advise clients on preferred equity deals, NAV loans and collateralized fund obligations.

Before his Soc Gen stint, Kerfoot was head of fund financing and investments for the Americas at UBS for six months. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade as a partner in Dechert’s global finance practice, focusing on fund finance, PE secondaries and NAV financing, private credit, CFOs and rated note structures, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Representatives for Proskauer and Soc Gen could not be reached immediately. Kerfoot declined to comment.
