Vista hires chief administrative officer

The Austin-based private equity firm recruited talent from Kirkland & Ellis for the newly created position.

Kirkland & Ellis partner David Breach joined Austin-based private equity firm Vista Equity Partners in the newly created role of chief administrative officer (CAO), according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. Breach is still listed as a partner on the law firm’s website.

Breach was a founding partner of the corporate group for Kirkland’s San Francisco office and previously served as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. He worked on multiple transaction deals with Vista going back to 2011, according to Kirkland’s website.

The appointment of Breach to CAO puts Vista in line with such private equity firms as The Blackstone Group, KKR and Cerberus Capital Management, all of which have an executive in the role, overseeing everything from finance and legal to IT and human resources in the broad-reaching role. It remains unclear what Breach’s responsibilities will entail. Vista was not immediately available to respond to requests for comment from pfm.

His hire marks the second operations role that Vista has added to its team in the past year. Vista’s appointment of Stephen Seelbach to chief of staff in March.
