Apex Group’s Valuation Services provide periodic valuations for illiquid financial instruments such as equity, debt and derivatives to meet specific reporting requirements, throughout all stages of a fund’s lifecycle.

Alfonso joins Apex from accountancy and advisory firm BDO, where he was most recently global valuation leader in its International Capital Finance Group. He co-led the US corporate finance practice at BDO and was the valuation and capital markets analysis national managing principal. Alfonso began his career with roles at Mellon Bank, Arthur Andersen, KPMG and Houlihan Lokey.

He has more than 25 years of financial services experience. In addition to equity and debt securities, Alfonso is also experienced in valuing complex financial instruments, including cryptocurrency, contingent consideration, options and swaps involving predictive modelling.

Alfonso said that firms need more support for valuations as “global regulatory developments continue to impact valuation practices in the asset management industry and necessitate greater valuation support as well as evidence of a proper control infrastructure.”
